The main sources of my inspiration, innovation, and principle of design are the tremendous
number and varieties of macro-organism, both living and fossilized. Millions of years
of evolutionary natural processes have altered the shape and structure of the micro-organisms,
into an abundant variety of new. The micro-organisms; rich wealth of design and three
dimensional structure, inspire the style and design of my ceramic work. As the forms
and the architectural structures of these organisms are otherwise not seen in details
with the naked eye, the samples of organisms have been specially prepared to study
their fascinating and beautiful filigree features with one of the most powerful modern
instruments, the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The SEM is used to take photographs
of the micro-organisms. Selected photographs are then enlarged, depending on their
authentic characteristics, which inspired me to design my ceramic work. I was very
much interested and became involved in living and fossilized micro-organisms during
my undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Further during my lifetime research work
on the microbial ecology at the Max-Planck-Institute for Limnology, Plon. I gained
more knowledge on these organisms and was fascinated with their filigree feature
and microbionic. I am an auto deduct and learned ceramic art by myself, by just reading
books of Contemporary Ceramics and observing Ceramic artists shaping their work at
different exhibits of craft and art of clay in various countries of the world. Micro-organisms's
world is the future paradise in the ceramic designs of three dimensional structures
and techniques. It is fantastic discovery through the technological marvel of nature.
Further it is a new technique to model future ceramics based on the patterns and
architectural designs of micro-organisms.
